A New York doctor's son falls in love with a village girl who uses medicinal plants to cure the villagers from various ailments. The doctor has been using modern medicine, so she disapproves of their relationship. The doctor moves from one city to another for his new job and he takes his son with him. However, they find themselves faced with a serious epidemic. A villager claims that there's a witch doctor living near by whose daughter they have seen tending to the sick people every day and night, but her father drives them away from her daughter as if they are lepers. Her father fears shame as he’s also a doctor and is ashamed of what his daughter does because it's not “modern”. The film has received mixed reviews.
